The new station building at Duffield
under construction in April 2016

The new station building at Duffield
exterior complete in August 2016
The EVR Trust has assisting the funding of the interior of the station building. To complete the work a better electrical supply was needed and this was dealt with over the winter of 2017. The completed station is a fine addition to the line, further work is now needed to improve its surroundings, car park and access. In 2023 the Trust, together with a grant kindly provided by East Midlands Railway, installed a new mains water supply to the station. The next phase of this project will be to rebuild the Chapel Street gateway and we hope to progress this by the summer of 2024.

On-going Projects:
Duffield Station and surroundings
Duffield (EVR) Station was opened in 2011, but this was essentially the platform area and car park, at the time there were no facilities except a small ticket office and some portaloos. As a first stage in providing better facilities, the ticket office was converted to a proper passenger toilet facility and a temporary Booking Office provided on the 31st March 2012. However, this gave little inside cover for passengers and a fundraising effort began, developed by Eric Boultbee. This effort successfully raised the money required for a new building, and this building was constructed in the Spring of 2016.
